BENEATH THE SURFACE
-
Anticipation
Members of an exclusive club for high level executives received a mysterious invitation in the mail with a metal card, which they were asked to bring with them to an event called Beneath the Surface. While most events geared toward executives are about accomplishment and progress, this event is designed to spark wonder.
They arrive to a looming bunker with no signage outside. When they enter they are welcomed with the warm scent of amber and are each handed a lava stone with no other explanation than to keep it with them.

Immersion
They are taken on a private tour of the Boros Collection, a private collection of contemporary art housed in a converted bunker. After, they walk together to dinner in the Vault, a private wine cellar beneath an exclusive restaurant. As they enter the space, with cinematic orchestral music by Icelandic composer Ólafur Arnalds, they are invited to drop their stones together in a vessel, creating a shared circle of intimacy and immediacy. The menu is printed with conversation questions as an invitation to go deeper with each course—The Surface, The Current, The Depths. They answer questions such as “If you were a great artist, what elements would you like to bring out in a portrait of someone else at this table?” telling stories and building connections.

Reflection
As the evening comes to a close, guests are each handed a small velvet pouch containing their lava stone, which has now been infused with a few drops of amber essential oil, the evening’s signature scent, along with a small vial of it. They are invited to continue this ritual at home, using the stone as a sensory anchor to going deeper within themselves. At the end participants are asked to write one question, challenge, or idea they’ll bring into the next gathering, creating a connecting thread to future events.
This event embodies the pillars of Autonomy, Generosity, Presence, and Intentional Friction.
