SUNDAY SUPPERS

Growing up in a big Italian-American family spread across New Jersey and New York, Sunday Suppers were a beloved staple of my upbringing. We gathered frequently around a home cooked meal to celebrate birthdays, holidays, or milestones, or just to be together as a family. Inspired by a nostalgia for these great, big, tender and boisterous gatherings I grew up with, I’ve decided to start hosting family-style dinners one Sunday a month at my place in Kreuzberg. Nothing fancy, just simple homey food cooked with love and shared with a group of friends—new and old—gathered around the table. I want to start a delicious new tradition that’s a celebration of food, community, and experience and I would love for you to be a part of it!

HOW IT WORKS

While I love the idea of just having an open door policy on Sundays, the practical reality is that my apartment is quite cozy and I only own 8 plates, so I had to find a simple—but hopefully not too impersonal—way to ensure an open invitation to all friends and friends of friends, without things getting out of hand. The vibe is that everyone is welcome (just not all at once). So if you think you might want to come over for Sunday Supper at some point in the future, please sign up for the mailing list.

I will send an announcement out a few days before with what I plan to cook, and anyone who wants to come that week can simply reply to the email. Kids and partners and random plus ones are of course welcome, just let me know in your reply.

It goes without saying I will not use your email for anything other than inviting you to Sunday Suppers, and you can easily opt out at any time. Also, feel free to share this—friends of friends are friends. Even if we haven’t met yet, you are welcome to join.

SOME PRACTICAL DETAILS

The emails will have more information about time, menu, address, and anything that might be helpful to bring like bread, sweets, wine, or strangers. There will typically be some vegetarian options, but for the most part it’s come and eat what’s served. For now I am planning Sunday Suppers:

  • September 25

  • October 23

  • November 6

  • December 18

These dates are subject to change, so the only way to know when Sunday Supper is happening is to be on the mailing list. Come once, or hopefully be a regular.

Can’t wait to

see you there!

FOOD. COMMUNITY. EXPERIENCE.

And naturally I plan to inject each Sunday Supper with a little experience design magic—surprises, moments, rituals, or games—to cultivate connections and deepen reverie. My intention is to pour a whole lot of heart into fostering this new version of an old tradition and I hope you’ll help make it fun and meaningful.

Love,
Julie
